Thailand Weather – All the Information You Need!
Tropical and humid is the best way to describe Thailand Weather throughout most of the year.
Like most countries the weather in Thailand does vary depending on where you are in the country. Thailand however does seem to be very straight forward with regard to seasons, anywhere north of Bangkok and you will find that there are 3 seasons during the year, south of the capital and there are only two. The climate in Bangkok Thailand tends to follow that of the north.
So what are these seasons and when do they start?
Well northern Thailand usually has seasons that are well defined. November to February the weather is mostly dry with plenty of sunshine, however you will find that there is a little breeze especially during the evening.
March to April the weather is very dry and extremely sunny, there is very little breeze, with temperatures reaching their peaks during this season. May to October you will find the weather is affected by the monsoons, where hot sunny days can be interrupted by torrential downpours.
Southern Thailand has only a wet and a dry season, however depending on whether you are on the east or the west side of the southern peninsular, will determine when the wet season is. The east coast usually has its wet season during the months of September to December. The west coast is normally from April to October. The remaining months on both coastlines provide dry hot sunny weather with very little rain.
For reference the island of Phuket is located on the west coast and Koh Samui is on the east coast of Thailand.
Throughout the whole country September and October are the months when the most rain falls, it is also very humid with temperatures around 30 degrees. April is by far the hottest month in Thailand where temperatures can reach 40 degrees and beyond.
So when is the best time to visit Thailand?
Well usually people prefer to visit between the months of November and February, for two reasons. Firstly during these months you will find that there is very little rain if any, and during the evening you will find a cool breeze which gives a well deserved break from the day’s sun.
Secondly, depending on where you live, usually the weather back home is rainy, snowy and freezing cold, and people can’t wait to get away from it all to a beautiful sunny country such as Thailand.
